How we check these facts
We make a competing app, so every claim we make about another one has to be checkable without trusting us.
Sources
Every claim about another app links to the page where its maker says it: its App Store listing, its privacy policy, its own help pages. If we cannot find a claim in a source we could open, we leave the row out rather than guess.
Checks
- We open each source before a page is published, and show the date of that check at the top of the page.
- Every page is re-checked at least every 90 days, and the date changes when it is.
- Steps in iPhone settings are tried on a real iPhone before a page says they work. Until then the page says the device check is pending.
- Each comparison says, near the top, where the other app is better.
