For people holding a piece
Someone gave you a piece
You are holding one piece of someone's key. On its own it is useless. With other pieces, it opens their vault.
How to keep it
Like a spare house key: somewhere safe, not online, not in a message. Do not photograph it, and do not store it in a notes app, a cloud drive or an email.
If they ask for it back
Show them the code in person. Do not read it over the phone or send a photo of it. They type it into Oorvel, which checks each group as they go, so a typo is caught straight away.
What it can and cannot do
- One piece alone shows nothing at all about their words or their files.
- Enough pieces together bring their six words back. That is why the pieces belong with different people.
- Nobody, including Oorvel's maker, keeps a copy. Their phone keeps none either.
